Adriana Barrios was born and raised in San Diego, California. In 2009 she graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in printmaking. In 2015 Barrios attended an international artist residency in Florence, Italy at Santa Reparata International School of Art. Currently, she is pursuing a Master of Fine Arts Degree at The University of Wisconsin-Madison where she is a recipient of the Education Graduate Research Fellow Scholarship. Her artwork has been exhibited in Texas, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Italy, and Mexico. Her most recent body of artwork entails her revisiting the coastal landscapes of her upbringing. Barrios is interested in the ways we observe, interact, and respond to the places we inhabit. She uses a drone along with digital and analog cameras to document the environmental changes happening along the California coastline due to climate change.
